Multivitamins have long been seen as a quick solution for a number of problems, the most notable being heart disease and stroke. Recently, though, a new study has shown that they, in fact, don’t prevent either. The American Heart Association reports that one third of American consume multivitamins, convinced that they will solve their cardiac problems. A recent study , released by Dr. Joonseok Kim states that, “ One of the big problems with multivitamin use is that it could deviate the public from following the measures that are proven to be beneficial for cardiovascular health, including eating fruits and vegetables, and doing more exercise.” Another study recently concluded that multivitamins offer no protection against heart disease and stroke. These studies are particularly convincing as they use clinical trials where doctors and scientists may closely control many confounding variables.
